Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Classical Dance, Modern

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater grew from a now-fabled performance in March 1958 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Led by Alvin Ailey and a group of young African-American modern dancers, that performance changed forever the perception of American dance. The Ailey company has gone on to perform for an estimated 25 million people at theaters in 48 states and 71 countries on six continents, reaching millions more through television broadcasts, film screenings, and online platforms. In 2008, a U.S. Congressional resolution designated the Company as "…a vital American cultural ambassador to the world."

Love Never Dies

Musical

"Love Never Dies," a story of boundless love, full of passion and drama, is the sequel to Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera," one of the most successful musicals of all time. The year is 1907. It is 10 years after his disappearance from the Paris Opera House and the Phantom has escaped to a new life in New York, where he lives among the screaming joyrides and freak shows of Coney Island. In this new, electrically charged world, he has finally found a place for his music to soar, but he has never stopped yearning for his one true love and musical protégée, Christine Daae. Now one of the world's finest sopranos, Christine accepts an invitation to travel from Paris to New York to perform at a renowned opera house. Christine's marriage to Raoul is suffering at the hands of his drinking and gambling, and they desperately need the financial rewards that America can give them. In a final bid to win back Christine's love, the Phantom lures her, Raoul and their young son, Gustave, from Manhattan to the glittering and glorious world of Coney Island - not knowing what's in store for them.

Les Miserables: National Tour

Musical

Cameron Mackintosh presents the new production of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg’s Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, "Les Misérables," direct from an acclaimed two-and-a-half-year return to Broadway. This beloved musical by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg is based on Hugo's famous novel of 19th-century France. The action begins in 1815 as Jean Valjean is condemned to 19 years of hard labor for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family. When he is released on parole, he finds only hatred and suspicion. Meeting one man who believes in him, Valjean breaks his parole to begin a new life. The story truly begins as Jean Valjean crosses the landscape of France, always pursued by the righteous police inspector Javert. From Valjean's adoption and love of the orphan Cosette, to the darkly funny plots of the thieving Thenardiers, from the soaring revolutionary fire set by student rebels fighting in the streets of Paris to the final confrontation between Jean Valjean and Javert, this story is one of love, courage and redemption. As the now-famous lyric from the show says, "To love another person is to see the face of God."
