Formed in 1993 by Rivers Cuomo, the enduring pop-punk band makes music with obvious influences, the Beach Boys' four-part harmony most prominently. But echoes of the J. Geils Band, Todd Rundgren and Weezer's own early music, along with verbal references to the Beatles, are also easy to spot. Their 2005 album, "Make Believe" and "Weezer (White Album)" from 2016 have been the band's top-sellers. Their top-selling singles, according to Billboard, also appeared in the 2000s, including "Perfect Situation," "Pork and Beans," "Beverly Hills," "Feels Like Summer" and "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To." Still frontman, Cuomo is now a father well into his 40s but, aside from occasional sardonic references in his songs, he has not jumped on the hip-hop carousel. He's no dinosaur, though, nurturing a large presence on social media.

Billie Eilish

With an appetite for the gliding, glassy indie-pop of artists like Aurora and Lana Del Rey and the Distorted Menace of Tyler the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt, Billie Eilish listens to music the way that most watch movies, entirely undefined by genre. This bleeds through into her own unique style of music, calling out lyrics with a mix of heartbreak and damaged indifference.
