Join us for an evening of technology exploration with library staff. Learn about our free online classes, experiment with STEM toys including robotics; try your hand at some coding projects; get an introduction to 3D printing; and mingle with other tech-friendly adults! This program is designed for adult learners, but some of the projects may be suitable for teens. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Lacey Library.

Beyond Fake News: How We Find Accurate Information about the World

Oregon State University Outreach Librarian Kelly McElroy will facilitate an interactive conversation around the national and local news media's ability to both represent and misrepresent the facts at hand. From debate over opinions on the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to the discourse around alternative facts, it can seem difficult to find current and accurate information to use as we make decisions in our communities. This conversation is co-sponsored by Humanities Washington, Humanities Oregon, and the Friends of the Lacey Library.

Antiquated Technologies Series: Vintage Sewing Machine Jamboree

Textiles, Folk Art/Crafts

Vintage Sewing Machine enthusiasts come together to share their love for these beautiful and functional machines that are still stitching after all these years. Collectors will tell stories about the history, mystery, and maintenance of sewing machines. A variety of models will be available to try out, including toy, electric, and people-powered treadle and hand cranks. Additionally, quilts created by the Washington Stars Quilt Guild will be on display throughout the library and in the library lobby. This program is part of the Antiquated Technologies Series and is sponsored by the Friends of the Lacey Library.

Great American Read Screenings

Film
