Poetry Out Loud State Final

Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation competition open to 9-12th grade students across the nation. This year 20,000 Washington students participated at 68 schools. The top scoring student competes at the school level, the regional level, and the state final. The public is invited to attend the annual State Final on March 10. The state champion receives $200 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to compete for the national championship. The state winner's school receives $500 for the purchase of poetry books. The runner-up in the state competition receives $100, with $200 for his or her school library. Additionally, $50,000 in scholarships and school stipends are awarded to the winners at the National Finals.
